Last weekend, the GreenScale team was delighted to be back in Sirdal for Heimesommar.
We arrived on Friday evening ready for a busy weekend, spending the night packing more than 100 bags of sweets that we had brought over from London in preparation for Barnas Dag. On Saturday, we were proud to sponsor the magician and the army obstacle course, while our team spent the day meeting local families, handing out sweets, and joining in the celebrations.
One of the highlights was watching our CEO, Dan Thomas, take on some of Tonstad’s young footballers in a penalty shootout ahead of the England vs Norway World Cup match. Unsurprisingly, the local talent came out on top!
It was also wonderful to experience the weekend as visitors, not just as a company. Dan brought his children along for the trip, and they made the most of their time in Tonstad, from swimming in the river to discovering that the lake is considerably colder than it looks! By the end of the weekend, they were already asking when they could come back.
The celebrations then continued into the evening with Palmebris, where we joined everyone in cheering on Hagle. Like many visitors before us, we quickly discovered just how much energy and community spirit the event brings, and we left as Hagle fans ourselves.
Most of all, thank you to everyone who welcomed us. Whether you stopped for a chat, visited us during Barnas Dag or simply said hello over the weekend, we genuinely appreciated your warm welcome. These moments help us get to know the community, and they remind us why spending time here is so important.
While our team from London will continue to visit Sirdal as often as possible, we also want to remind everyone that our Managing Director Norway, Nenad Keseric, will be in Tonstad every two weeks after the summer holidays. Whether you have questions, ideas or simply want to introduce yourself, Nenad is looking forward to getting to know more people across the community — and he promises that football and biathlon tips are optional!
